I'm happy to announce that in late May, I was accepted to 2 Master's programs at UPM (la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid)! One is a Master Oficial, called Tecnología para el Desarrollo Humano y La Cooperación and the other is a Master Propio, called Energías Renovables y Medio Ambiente. The first is actually 1.5 years, and as an "official" master it is more recognized throughout Europe and conforms to certain standards. The Master Propios are actually known to be higher standard. Anyways, after getting these acceptances, I made an appointment for a student visa at the Spanish Consulate in LA, and started working on some of the paperwork (like getting a background check from the FBI). At this point, I'm still waiting to hear back from UPV but it's very assuring to know that at least I already have two acceptances.
I've also found out that I will know quite of a few people from UCLA who will be in Europe next year! My friend Angelica is teaching English in Lille (France), Michelle is moving to London, Pelle is also in London, Liz is teaching English in Madrid, and Kirstie is teaching English in Andalucia. And of course my best friend from high school Roxanne will be in Germany. Many weekend trips to look forward to!
